1. How can I get the most out of HexoSearch?

You'll find HexoSearch's interface very familiar because it's almost identical to the other search engines such as google.com© except for one thing: you can vote up or vote down for the search result you clicked on.

If you cast a vote while you're logged in, your vote is saved and you can check how it effects other users on your user page.

As a site owner you can also submit your site into our engine and monitor its performance.

2. Do I have to login?

Nope. You can still use the search engine but you can't save your votes nor receive thank you messages. Since HexoSearch supports OpenID registration, you can use your google, yahoo or other OpenID accounts to signin without filling out another registration form.

3. What's a followup vote?

You gain a followup vote when someone votes for one of your voted links.

4. What's a thank you message?

User can send a thank you message after casting a followup vote to express his/her thanks.

5. Why are voted results sometimes not on the top of the search results?

Voted results are ranked in a very complex way. The key facts include keyword relevance and number of votes. We recommend to click through to results that are ranked higher, voted or not.

6. Why are results with more votes sometimes ranked lower than results with less votes?

There are other facts to determine how voted results are ranked besides the number of votes. If a result that has more votes obtains a lower ranking, it means the engine doesn't think it quite matches what you are looking for. We recommend to click through to a result that ranks higher.
